Fecon has purchased the Vermeer forestry mulcher product line and through this arrangement has established a global distribution agreement with the company.

The new distribution agreement with Vermeer, which is planned to be rolled out on a controlled basis throughout 2021, will provide Fecon dealers access to the robust line of mulching equipment that leverages the best of Vermeer and Fecon mulching technology.

\n\n

“This distribution strategy leverages the scope and size of traditional Vermeer dealerships by focusing on market segments with differentiated product needs. Blending the learnings and engineering expertise of both teams provides dealerships and customers with products that are easy to buy and own,” stated Fecon.

\n\n

“Adding Fecon engineering and technology will make it easier for customers to buy the equipment best suited to their needs,” said Bob Dieckman, CEO of Fecon LLC. “With their extensive coverage and high standard of customer support, as well as the professional and strategic Vermeer sales organisation, we are certain that both organisations will benefit from the partnership.”

According to Fecon, it will start the process with a select, yet global group of Vermeer dealers in 2021, as well as strategically specify products and methodically expand from there. The company will assume production and support of the Vermeer model FT100 and FT300 forestry mulching tractors, and has begun moving these functions to its Lebanon, Ohio factory.

\n\n

“Fecon’s forestry innovation and product lineup is a great complement to our equipment portfolio," said Doug Hundt, president of industrial solutions at Vermeer. “With a lineup of products that support the land clearing, utility right-of-way and fire mitigation markets, their mulching attachments and tractors will give our dealers a broader portfolio to support those customers we are already working with in those markets."

Established in 1992 near Cincinnati, Fecon manufactures the Bull Hog forestry mulcher. The company also produces tracked carriers and tractors, as well as a full range of attachments and other equipment for vegetation management. Its products are sold through equipment dealers and distributors worldwide.

Auger Torque has added the VM1000 and VM1500 mulchers to its product portfolio, which are ideal for mounting on both excavators and skid steer loaders. These new attachments are equipped with a drum drop change feature - believed to be an industry first – that enables users to switch easily between fixed tungsten tooth and swinging hammer drum when working on site.

\n\n

The new VM (Variable Mulcher) series offers a working width of up to 1.5 m. Auger Torque said that since both the VM1000 and VM1500 have the unique feature of being able to change the drum on site, thus adapting quickly between parent machines for maximum versatility and flexibility on the job, costly downtime can be prevented. Users are also able to perform numerous applications with only one piece of equipment.

\n\n

According to Auger Torque, the VM mulchers are suitable for the construction industry, in addition to the agriculture and forestry industries. The attachments are made from high-grade steel and have been overengineered to cope with the toughest conditions. External grease points, removeable side panels and skid plates allow for easy maintenance, while a triple belt drive system provides users with the reliability they need to get the job done.

\n\n

Auger Torque said it is possible to have the mulcher set up for skid steer loaders and excavators simultaneously and clear dense low-level bushes with a skid steer, then mulch whole trees from top to ground level with an excavator. The fixed tungsten teeth drum gives a robust blunt cutting edge for grinding through thick timber up to 250 mm diameter, hedges and branches. The swinging hammer teeth drum delivers a cleaner, more precise cut for dense bushes, smaller trees and even slashing grass.
