Linden Comansa works together with its Singapore dealer, Access Systems Technology, to bring the latest tower crane development to the local market. These include the new 21LC1050, newly upgraded 21LC750 and LCL700 luffing-jib cranes.

The new 21LC1050 flat-top tower crane from Linden Comansa has three maximum capacities - 25 t, 37.5 t and 50 t - as well as a maximum jib reach of 80 m and a maximum freestanding height of 73.3 m with standard mast. The jib configurations range from 30 to 80 m, in 5 m increments. The crane’s 110 kW hoist mechanism provides a maximum speed of up to 101 m/min.

The 21LC1050 is designed based on the company’s successful model, the 21LC750. It meets the demand for heavy-capacity cranes in Singapore, said Linden Comansa, as the country’s construction sector is moving towards the use of large steel beams, heavy precast concrete elements and volumetric modules (better known as PPVC).

\r\n

At the same time, Linden Comansa’s 21LC750 flat-top crane has also been upgraded to feature larger capacities. It is now available in 25 t, 37.5 t and 50 t - increased from 24 t, 36 t and 48 t respectively.

The 21LC750 can also be climbed with a maximum 80 m jib, with jib configurations ranging from 30 to 80 m, in 5 m increments. The crane has a freestanding height of 78.8 m with standard mast.

Both the 21LC1050 and 21LC750 feature ease of erection as their ‘cat-head’ has been removed. Due to this special design, the cranes’ jib and counterjib are joined together on the turntable, without any apex section. Their standard mast sections have a width of just 2.5 m.

\r\n

The two models can be equipped with an optional 110 kW hoist motor and a hoist-drum capacity of 1,570 m of rope. They will also be fitted with the new CUBE cab. What’s more, the cranes incorporate the PowerLift system, which improves the load chart by 10% at reduced speeds, as well as the Effi-Plus system for high speed, optimum efficiency and faster working cycles.

Luffing-jib crane\r\n

\r\n

Linden Comansa’s LCL700 luffing-jib tower crane is also suitable for the Singapore market. It comes in two versions for the global market: 64 t and 50 t. These maximum capacities can be reduced to 32 t and 25 t respectively, by easily changing from a two-fall system to single pull line, thus increasing hoist speed and productivity.

\r\n

The crane provides an ideal solution in large cities and congested jobsites, where space is limited. The maximum radius of the LCL700 is 65 m, which can be reduced in increments of 5 to 30 m. The 64 t LCL700 can lift up to 7.2 t at maximum reach, while the 50 t can lift up to 7.5 t. Both cranes have a minimum reach of just 4 m.

The LCL700 boasts an ‘out-of-service’ jib radius of between 20.4 and 17 m, depending on the maximum reach, providing a higher level of safety on the construction site when the crane is not in use.

\r\n

The radius of the counterjib is also short, just 9.5 m, with the possibility of being reduced to 8.7 m by assembling the crane with steel counterweights instead of standard concrete counterweights. Despite its size, the counterjib is spaciously distributed, enabling the operator to perform maintenance tasks easily.

\r\n

The maximum freestanding mast height of the LCL700 is 69.8 m. The crane’s tower sections, with a 2.5-m wide frame, are the same as those for the luffing-jib LCL500 and the flat-top 21LC750. As such, owners of those models do not need to reinvest in new tower sections or a climbing cage.

\r\n

The LCL700 is fitted with a 200 kW hoist motor that enables it to reach high speeds: up to 134 m/min for the 64 t version, and up to 170 m/min for the 50 t. The hoist speed with maximum capacity is naturally reduced, but remains highly competitive: the 64 t LCL700 can lift 64 t with a speed of 17 m/min or 32 t with 34 m/min, while the maximum speed for the 50 t LCL700 is 22 m/min when lifting 50 t loads and 43 m/min for 25 t loads.

Both versions of the LCL700 can feature an optional high-capacity Lebus hoist cable drum, allowing the cranes to be used to construct buildings of over 1,000 m high when using a single pull line, and over 500 m high with a double line. The LCL700 will also come with the new CUBE cab.

Manitowoc has launched the successor to its popular Grove GMK6300L all-terrain crane, the GMK6300L-1. Several improvements have been made to the structural strength of this new 300 t capacity model.

Manitowoc has launched the successor to its popular Grove GMK6300L all-terrain crane, the GMK6300L-1. Several improvements have been made to the structural strength of this new 300 t capacity model. Its load charts have been improved by over 7% on average, when compared with the GMK6300L. At height, the improvements are even better, with advantages of over 16% in the boom length range of 70 –80 m.

The new GMK6300L-1 features a maximum tip height of 120 m when working with its full 80 m main boom and 37 m of jib. When lifting with the main boom, it can lift up to 14 t at full height and also handle this within a 14 -28 m working radius, offering a flexible range for such applications as tower crane rigging.

The crane is powered by a 430 kW Mercedes Benz (Euromot 4/EPA Tier 4 final) engine in the carrier that features improved fuel economy over its predecessor. This is paired with an Allison torque converter transmission. A 210 kW Mercedes Benz (Euromot 4/EPA Tier 4 final) engine powers the superstructure.

The previous model, GMK6300L, was launched in 2010 and became an immediate worldwide hit. According to Manitowoc, the crane raced to sales of 100 units in just two years and to date more than 400 have been delivered. With its significantly improved load charts and specifications, the new GMK6300L-1 is expected to be just as popular.

\r\n

Like its predecessor, the GMK6300L-1 is equipped with Megatrak suspension, along with Manitowoc’s standard all-wheel steering. Its counterweight slabs and auxiliary hoist are interchangeable with the GMK5180-1, GMK5200-1, GMK5250L and GMK6300L, making it a particularly attractive investment for existing Grove customers.

First Potain hydraulic topless luffing jib crane\r\n

\r\n

Manitowoc also recently introduced its first hydraulic topless luffing jib crane, the Potain MCH 125. Having previewed as a prototype at bauma China 2016 in Shanghai, the first units have since been tested on site with select dealers in Thailand, Australia and New Zealand ahead of the crane’s launch into several international markets, said the company.

\r\n\r\n

With a cutting-edge design and new technology, the crane combines the advantages of Potain’s MCR luffing jib cranes and MCT topless cranes. Contractors will find it particularly straightforward to assemble and disassemble the crane on congested sites, making it an ideal choice for urban projects, city-centre work or other jobsites where space is limited.

Maximum capacity for the MCH 125 is 8 t, while the maximum jib length is 50 m. Tip capacity is 2 t and maximum line speed is 100 m/min when fitted with the 60 LVF 20 hoist. The crane’s innovative design offers a number of advantages, including fast erection and dismantling. The topless design means less space is needed on site, as there is no cathead to assemble at ground level before installation.

The MCH 125 also uses Potain’s VVH hydraulic luffing technology for vertical movement of the jib, which eliminates the need for luffing wire ropes. With VVH technology, the crane is able to raise from a horizontal level to 87˚ in less than two minutes, according to Manitowoc. The hydraulics are pre-connected at the factory, thus avoiding the need to perform this duty during the crane’s on-site assembly. The hydraulic luffing design also means the crane has a shorter counter-jib and out-of-service radius when compared with rope-luffing alternatives, freeing up valuable space on congested jobsites.

Furthermore, crane operators will enjoy the increased comfort and visibility that comes with the unit’s Vision 140 cab – it is said to be one of the largest cabs on the market. The entire upperworks of the crane, including its full 50 m of jib, can travel on just four trucks. Assembly to a height of 40 m can be achieved in less than six hours, said Manitowoc.

The MCH 125 also features a smooth and quiet operation; and for better utilisation for fleet owners it can be mounted on existing 1.6 m or 2 m mast sections from the manufacturer’s current range. Jib sections are from the MCR range of luffing jib cranes. There are five jib configurations available, ranging from 30 to 50 m, in 5 m increments.

The MCH 125 will be sold and supported through the extensive regional Potain dealer networks. The first production deliveries are expected to begin in early 2018, with the crane available for sale throughout Asia, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, Russia, the CIS countries and Latin America.

Manitowoc has appointed two new dealers for its Grove brand in Asia to support growing demand in the region for its advanced range of mobile cranes. The two companies include Rainbow Ace Ltd of Hong Kong and Tuyet Nga Co Ltd (TNC) based in Hanoi, Vietnam. Both will sell the full line of Grove all-terrain, rough-terrain and truck cranes and offer comprehensive Manitowoc Crane Care customer support.

Rainbow Ace was established 25 years ago, and the company already sells and supports a number of construction equipment brands to serve sectors such as road building and general construction. Chow Kwok Kei, general manager at the company, said he expects strong interest in the Grove brand now that his company is offering dedicated, in-country representation.

\r\n

“There is a healthy population of Groves in Hong Kong that are performing well but which will benefit from on-the-ground support,” said Mr Chow. “We are delighted to partner with Manitowoc to sell and support these impressive cranes. The designs are compact and offer superior capabilities as well as unique technologies, such as the Megatrak suspension system. This will appeal to Hong Kong companies who often need to work in congested spaces but still require powerful lifting support.”

TNC in Hanoi (pictured below) is another well-established and experienced equipment reseller, with a host of brands in its current portfolio. With more than 20 years of experience, the company’s staff includes a crew of 30 technicians with deep knowledge of industrial equipment.

Tran Kim Dzung, general director of TNC, said the company expects to supply cranes to several growing business sectors, such as construction, oil and gas, mining and power generation.

“We chose to partner with Grove because its product range offers a multitude of technical options for customers that allow us to offer the right crane for customer needs,” said Ms Tran. “We’re expecting strong interest in the Grove range of rough-terrain cranes, which have a world class reputation and should be an attractive option for our customers in Vietnam.”
