Malaysia’s contractor Gamuda Berhad has secured a contract for the Kaohsiung Metropolitan Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Xiaogang–Linyuan Line civil works and electromechanical facilities project in Taiwan, valued at NTD 26.39 billion (about RM3.30 billion).
This contract, package RLC02, was awarded to an unincorporated joint venture between Gamuda (70% stake) and Taiwan-based company Shang Ting Construction (30% stake) by the Kaohsiung City Government Mass Rapid Transit Bureau. It is expected to be completed in seven years and four months.
In its statement, Gamuda said the joint venture’s scope of works as the main contractor includes three underground stations (RL4, RL5 and RL6), one elevated station (RL7), 3.88 km of underground twin-bound railway track, and six units of cross passages.
The project will also incorporate eco-friendly materials and sustainable landscaping while ensuring safety and accessibility for rural areas in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, according to Gamuda.
