Special steels and tunnelling systems

Herrenknecht will be present at this year’s Bauma Conexpo India to offer its tunnelling solutions, pipeline technology and exploration technology. The German manufacturer delivers tunnel boring machines (TBMs) for all ground conditions and in all diameters, ranging from 0.10 to 19 m. Its product range includes tailor-made machines for transport tunnels (traffic tunnelling) and supply and disposal tunnels (utility tunnelling).

Herrenknecht provides integrated solutions around tunnel construction with project-specific equipment and service packages upon request. These include separation plants, conveyor belt systems, navigation systems, rolling stock systems and segment moulds right up to turnkey lining segment production plants. The range of products also includes services in the area of technical consultancy, planning and supervision for tunnelling projects as well as personnel solutions to complement construction site crews on a temporary basis.

In addition, Herrenknecht develops innovative technical solutions to sink vertical shafts down to great depths as well as to successfully excavate sloping shafts. The company also produces highly advanced deep drilling rigs that can drill down to depths of 8,000 m.

Among steel specialists that will be participating at Bauma Conexpo India is Steelforce, a global supplier of special steel to OEMs. The company will introduce its Raex wear resistant steel and Strenx high strength steel.

The Raex wear resistant steel is designed for high durability, adding life to the machines, while the Strenx high strength steel makes the products efficient by reducing the weight. These steels are used in various industries, typically for tipper bodies, trailers, containers, mobile cranes, concrete/transit mixers, excavator buckets and other wear and lightweight solutions.
