Int’l Construction Transformation Conference, BuildXpo Open Forums to be held during Malaysia’s Int’l Construction Week 2023

The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia will facilitate engaging dialogues at the International Construction Transformation Conference (ICTC) 2023 and BuildXpo Open Forums, focusing on the theme ‘Leading ESG in Construction’. These discussions will complement BuildXpo 2023, hosted by CIDB Malaysia and organised by Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn Bhd, in conjunction with International Construction Week (ICW) 2023.

ICTC 2023

ICTC 2023 will be held on 14-15 November, featuring local and global industry leaders who will share building and construction best practices and innovations aligned to the ESG framework. These include topics on ‘ESG: The Public Listed Companies (PLC) Transformation Programme’ by Bursa Malaysia, ‘Sustainable Finance Initiatives’ by leading banking institutions, and case studies on sustainable infrastructures from around the world such as Kota Seribu Galur in Indonesia and The Meydan Project in Dubai, among others.

BuildXpo Open Forums

The open forums will take place on 15-17 November, providing various insights ranging from sustainable materials to cutting-edge project management techniques led by thought leaders. These include topics on timber verification services and sustainable sourcing (‘Timber Verification Service – Are You Aware?’ and ‘Timber as Construction Materials’ by The Malaysian Timber Industry Board). Other agencies featured include the Malaysian Green Building Council, which will delve into ‘Building Materials Performance and Certifications’, looking at the benefits of using timber for environmentally conscious projects.

The open forums will also present case studies from the oil and gas sector (‘Offshore Facilities Load Out – Case Study of Jacket Superstructure Loadout by Strand Jacking Skidding Method’ by Petronas engineers) and examine disruptive technology innovations in the field (‘Disruptive Technology Innovation During Critical Heavy Structure Load Out Operation’).

In addition, businesses and government agencies looking to migrate and navigate cloud-based technology to enhance efficiency and transparency in construction projects will find the session on ‘Cloud-Based Contract Administration System for JKR / PWD Standard Form of Contract’ particularly useful.

On the ESG application and excellence front, project implementation experts will share their first-hand experience during the ‘Innovative Project Management for ESG Excellence: Exploring Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) in Construction’ session. Flood-resistant housing and its versatility and durability in the face of climate impact is another topic set to spark engaging discussions during the ‘Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) – Construction of Flood House’ session.

“BuildXpo 2023 remains committed to its mission of promoting sustainability, innovation, and ESG practices in the construction industry. This impressive line-up of open forums is a testament of our dedication to providing a platform for learning, collaboration, and growth in pursuit of a greener and more sustainable future,” said Richard Teo, chairman of Qube Integrated Malaysia.
