Aurecon awarded new residential project at Kai Tak, Hong Kong

Aurecon has been appointed by Cheung Kong Holdings Limited to provide consultancy services, including civil, structural and geotechnical services, for a proposed residential development at Kai Tak, Sung Wong Toi station in Hong Kong.

Located in the heart of Victoria Harbour, the project will provide a quality living environment for residents to better serve the growing demand for housing in Hong Kong.

According to Aurecon, the total site area is approximately 19,919 sq m, which includes NKIL 6649, Kai Tak Area 2A Site 4, Site 5B & Site 10. The site comprises Pink Hatched Black Area, Green Hatched Black Area, Edge Blue Area, Edge Red Area and the Site and also includes the Sewerage Impact Assessment to develop large scaled residential development with basement serving for carpark and retail usage, underground shopping street connecting all basement among Site 4, Site 5B & Site 10 and government building above existing Sung Wong Toi MTR station for social welfare purpose.

“Aurecon applies trenchless construction methodology to facilitate the excavation for construction of underground shopping street. This innovative approach will minimise disruption to the surrounding community and existing public traffic circulation and ensure the timely completion of the project,” explained Wilson Sung, executive director, civil structure at Aurecon. “Besides, as the development is close to the existing Sung Wong Toi station, special care and diligent structural design and excavation design shall be carried out to ensure the project construction shall be implemented in a controlled manner.”

Aurecon’s extensive expertise in structural, geotechnical and tunnel design, combined with its experience in building information modelling (BIM) across all disciplines, including architecture, structures, E&M and landscape, enables the company to create a common digital environment (CDE) for design integration and coordination, ensuring smooth project delivery throughout implementation.
