Importance of Education and Professionalism in Design and Management of Play Equipment and Protective Surfacing in Singapore

Singapore – Landscape Industry Association (Singapore), LIAS, is pleased to announce the inaugural seminar on Safety Requirements for Public Play Spaces and TRIAX2010 Playground Surface Testing course in Singapore, which will be held on 27 and 28 June 2016.

Safety Requirements for Public Play Spaces Seminar
The Safety Requirements for Public Play Spaces seminar is organised by the Landscape Industry Association (Singapore), LIAS, and supported by the Singapore Institute for Landscape Architects (SILA). The speakers for the seminar are Kenneth Kutska, Executive Director of International Playground Safety Institute and Tom Kalousek, Director of Safe Play for All, from the USA and Rolf Huber, President of Canadian Playground Advisory Inc, from Canada. The professionals, who have more than 35 years of experience in the area of playground safety, surfacing and maintenance, will bring insights, best practices and most current knowledge in safety of playground equipment and surfacing to the industry in Singapore. The seminar will be attended by representatives from the Housing Development Board, National Parks Board, town councils, education institutions, playground organisations, organisations providing landscape architecture designs and associations. SILA members who attend the seminar will be awarded 3 CPD points towards their continuous professional development. The seminar will be held on 27 June 2016, 9am-5pm, at Devan Nair Institute for Employment and Employability. TRIAX2010 Playground Surface Testing Course
The TRIAX2010 Playground Surface Testing course will be presented by Rolf Huber, an advocate of injury prevention, accessibility and functional longevity who has more than 35 years of experience. The certification course is to train persons providing professional inspection service using the TRIAX2010 to conduct playground surface testing. Accessibility co-ordinators for public sector, park planners (like architects, landscape architects and specification writers), manufacturers, suppliers and installers of playground surfacing, will benefit from the certification course and have a greater understanding and the importance on playground surfacing. The course will be held on 28 June 2016, 9am-5pm, Biipmi Pte Ltd at Prosper House.
