Hong Kong – With the enthusiastic support and participation from the industry, the first-ever “Advancing Net Zero” (ANZ) Ideas Competition in Hong Kong has concluded with great success last year. The net zero solutions proposed by the Winners are definitely thought-provoking and worth sharing wide and far. These valuable and pioneering solutions has been showcased in its 3rd stop of the roving public exhibition at Pacific Place during this week.

Organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) with the support of Principal Partner Swire Properties, the ANZ Ideas Competition received overwhelming response with three Winners and five Merits awarded in November 2021. The competition invited international industry stakeholders, designers, academia, and technology experts to contribute innovative design ideas and practical solutions in two categories: (i) Future Buildings and (ii) Existing Buildings. Participants could propose their ideas based on the real data of two office towers by Swire Properties – site of One Taikoo Place and Oxford House in Taikoo Place, so that the solutions generated could be realistic and the implementation feasibility could be enhanced. The overall aim was to move Hong Kong’s building sector towards a sustainable future and actively meet the Hong Kong Government’s target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 by fostering innovative solutions for the city.

To help encourage a transformation in the market, all the valuable and pioneering solutions from the Winners and Merits have been showcased via public exhibitions and hosted on HKGBC’s website, and an e-book will be published later. The third exhibition takes place at Pacific Place during 4-12 June 2022.
