Navtech Radar has delivered a new airside surveillance and detection solution at Khon Kaen Airport, one of the busiest aviation hubs in Thailand’s Isan region. The installation supports the airport’s programme to improve operational safety and resilience as passenger numbers continue to grow.

Ranked among the top three airports in the region, Khon Kaen handles around 1.5 million* passengers a year. Its wide airside areas and frequent changes in weather and visibility created challenges for conventional camera-based systems, which often struggled to maintain consistent monitoring. The airport required technology that could deliver continuous, reliable detection under all weather and lighting conditions.

Working alongside local technology consultant Chotipon Bunyarat, Navtech Radar deployed its AdvanceGuard wide-area surveillance solution. Two HDR311 radar sensors now provide complete 360 degree detection across the active airside. AdvanceGuard’s rules-based software monitors all movement in real time and raises alerts whenever a rule is breached. Integrated cameras automatically direct to the point of interest, enabling immediate visual verification and supporting fast, informed responses.

The installation has given Khon Kaen Airport a more resilient and efficient security capability without increasing infrastructure complexity. With reliable real-time site-wide information available from a single interface, operators now have a clear, consistent view of all airside activity, helping teams respond quickly and confidently to unauthorised movement.
